“Japan: Land of the Gods”

When members of Japan’s parliament call Japan “land of the gods,”
They are attacked by the media.
That’s surely proof that, in the media’s view, there are no benevolent gods,
Only devils and demons.

In today’s Japan, our gods have been killed by the media.
A legislator’s visit to the Yasukuni Shrine is verboten;
Spirits of the departed enshrined at Yasukuni are scorned.
These are the consequences of media coverage.

My fellow Japanese, don’t make a mistake in whom to believe.
The greatness of this country we live in
We owe to the work of our great benevolent gods.
Japan is a land built by millions of gods,
Who gambled their very lives to build a great nation.
Let us never forget that.

We Japanese need to get back to basics,
To the spirit of “land of the gods.”
When the wishes of the gods above and the hopes of the people on this earth
Come together as one, the world shall be reborn.
