“Rise Again, Japan!”

There are those who deny patriotism
There are those who deny the very existence of the nation
There is no nobility in such thinking
Patriotism is not something to be forced
But I cannot respect those who lack it

Born in Japan, raised in Japan
Living in Japan
As long as we are here
Patriotism is a natural feeling
There are people we love, people we wish to protect
Therefore, there is value in protecting our country

It is said that no one dislikes war more than soldiers
That is because they stand face-to-face with death
To wish for peace and to maintain peace
A nation that neglects its defenses will surely perish

“If you desire peace, prepare for war”
This warning comes from a military thinker of the Roman Empire
To learn from the history of humankind is the mark of wisdom
Peace cannot be maintained by merely proclaiming peace

Japan now stands at a historic turning point
The choices of its people will shape the future
We must not be swayed
By comforting words or naive visions of peace
To sustain true peace requires the firm resolve of each individual
And the courage to act

Then, Japan will rise again
Rise again, Japan!

愛国心を否定する人々がいる
国そのものを否定する人々がいる
その考えには尊さを感じない
愛国心は強制されるものではないが
愛国心がない人にリスペクトはできない

日本に生まれ　日本で育ち
日本に生きている限り
愛国心は自然発生の感情だ
そこには愛する人　守りたい人がいる
故に国を守る事には価値がある

軍人ほど戦いを好まないという
それは死と直に向かい合うからだ
平和を願い　平和を維持するのに
軍備を疎かにした国は100%滅びるだろう

「汝平和を欲さば　戦いへの備えをせよ」
この警句はローマ帝国の軍事学者の言葉だ
人類の歴史に学ぶ事こそ賢者の在り方だろう
平和を叫ぶだけでは平和は維持できない

日本は今　歴史的転換点にいる
国民の選択が未来を決める
心地よい言葉や安易な平和論に
決して惑わされてはならない
真の平和を維持するには
一人ひとりの大いなる決断と
勇気ある行動が求められるのだ。

さすれば　日本は甦る
