“The Fragrance of Enlightenment”
The path to enlightenment is steep and long.
Believe in Buddha without being wrapped up in worldly concerns,
Believe in Buddhist teachings and devote oneself to Confucian ways,
Believe in people without letting emotions dominate.
Take joy in everyday discoveries and challenges,
Soothe the sadness of others,
Share the happiness around you,
Shine a light on ignorance.
Enlightenment—the very word smells sweet,
A fragrance too wonderful for this world.
Subtle, delicate, bold, generous—
A heavenly heart unchanged for earthly existence.
“What is life?” you could ask.
As far as the soul expressed in a person is concerned,
Life is walking the path to enlightenment.
That that is the right path, you must accept in your heart.
「悟りの香り」
悟りへの道は険しく長い
仏を信じ煩悩に振り回されず
法を信じ経学に日々精進し
人を信じ感情に支配されず
日々の発見と挑戦を歓びとし
人の悲しみを慈愛で癒し
人の歓びを共に喜び
無明に光を灯すを旨とす
悟りという言葉は芳しい
この世ならざる香りが漂う
精妙で繊細で大胆で大らかに
天界での心のままに生きること
人としての魂である限り
生きるとは何かと問われれば
それは悟りへの道を歩むこと
それが本道であると悟るべし
