153 The Pride of Japan

The Pride of Japan

“The Pride of Japan”

The first time I saw Mt. Fuji
Was the first time I took the bullet train from Tokyo.
Its appearance attracts everyone.
I was overwhelmed by its majestic and dynamic presence,
And felt something very sacred, and at the same time,
I felt like I had seen the true Japan.

Western civilization has a dark past.
Slavery and colonialism, in particular, have caused much suffering.
The Pacific War was a retribution for this.
It was not only a battle to protect Japan
But also a battle that gave hope to many people in Asia.

Japan lost the war but the ideals of Japan were realized.
Japan liberated the nations of Asia.

Our ancestors fought a very proud war.
However, there are those in the media
And journalism who treat their sacrifices
As if they were national pirates.
These forces are the true enemies of the Japanese people today.

By nature, the Japanese are a proud people.
Although our pride has been cut to shreds,
We must regain the Japanese spirit, the Yamato-damashii,
For the sake of the precious heroes who gave their lives for us.

Now is the time to do so as the crisis is approaching.
