In the age of the gods, the gods who built nations
Lived in the heavenly world called Takamagahara.
Their sacred nation-building endures eternally,
Their tireless efforts to unite heaven and earth.
From its beginning, Japan is one such nation.

We must worship the gods, tremble in awe,
Look up with reverence, hold them high in esteem.
Only the prayers pure and noble
Reach up to Takamagahara.

My fellow Japanese!!

We have been warned over and over
Of the crises facing Japan.
Yet, as those who understand the will of the heavens remain few,
The gods’ patience nears a breaking point!

Disasters that force hardships upon this nation
Will continue until the people regain the Japanese spirit.

We Japanese must heed the gods.
Build the nation anew, with haste,
In order to hold on to Japan and the world to the very end.
